Question 1

How does buying a registration plate from 2TX1 work?

Accepted Answer

Find the mark you want, reserve it and pay the all-inclusive price — the registration, VAT and our handling of the DVLA process in one total. We then prepare and submit the DVLA assignment with your vehicle details and keep you updated until your entitlement is confirmed.

Question 2

Is the £80 DVLA transfer fee included in the displayed price?

Accepted Answer

Nothing is added at checkout. Our prices are all-inclusive: the registration, VAT and our handling of any DVLA fees. The DVLA itself charges £80 when a registration moves between vehicles or onto a retention certificate — where that applies, it is already inside the price you see.

Question 3

Can I put a ALE registration plate on any car?

Accepted Answer

A registration can never make a vehicle look newer than it is. If a mark carries an age identifier, it must match or predate your vehicle's registration date. Dateless and Irish marks suit any vehicle, whatever its age — and every plate page has an eligibility checker so you can confirm before you buy.

Question 4

How long does the DVLA plate transfer process take?

Accepted Answer

Most assignments complete within a few working days once we have your V5C reference. We manage the whole DVLA process for you, start to finish, and confirm as soon as the entitlement is on your vehicle.

Question 5

What documents do I need to receive physical acrylic plates?

Accepted Answer

Once the assignment is confirmed you can order road-legal acrylic plates from any registered number plate supplier (RNPS). You'll need proof of entitlement plus ID — we tell you exactly what's accepted and where to order.

Question 6

Can I buy a private plate as a gift?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We can supply the mark on a DVLA certificate so the lucky recipient can assign it to their vehicle whenever they like — a famously thoughtful gift for any car enthusiast.

Question 7

What does the price include?

Accepted Answer

Every price on 2TX1 is all-inclusive: the registration entitlement, VAT and our handling of the DVLA process. The itemised breakdown is shown on each plate's page before you pay — no promotional codes, no surprises.

Question 8

Can I transfer the plate to another car later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A private registration belongs to you, not the car — you can move it between vehicles or hold it on a retention certificate. The DVLA charges £80 to move a mark between vehicles or onto retention, and we handle that paperwork for you.
